Welcome to the Art Jotter

Introduction

My name is Tony Jackson and I am an Illustrator. Following a schedule I continue to grow my skills, expand my portfolio and create artwork. Using the Art Jotter I intend to share my creative process. Previously I had planned to use this schedule as a breakdown of subjects that I would cover in future blog posts. For example a section on art study, portfolio development and so on. However, for the sake of efficiency and speed I have abandoned this plan in favour of biannual updates presented in chronological order.

Timetable 2024/2025

Art Study

Art study is a vast and ongoing process that is as much to do with actual practice as it is about reading and learning different skills and techniques. I have a long list of courses to complete, books to read and art techniques to practice.

Illustration Portfolio Development

I am interested in finding work as an illustrator. Therefore, my aim is to develop a suitable portfolio to display my skills and services to prospective clients. A portfolio may not be perfect to begin with. It may change and morph over time as you become more confident or change style.

Art Production

The "Art Production" section covers various tasks. Including maintaining and updating my website, blog and listing art for sale online. It will also include art projects, that may or include artwork for my portfolio or personal projects. Theres a lot to do.

Other News

The main feature of this blog is based on my art schedule. However, life happens, unexpected events occur and its important to nurture other interests too. I will do my best to take note of any other relevant information and share it here.

Summary

The task ahead doesn't come without sacrifice and nothing is set in stone. I have to work several days to keep the wolf from the door. Things are always subject to change due to unforeseen circumstance or developments. I previously worked to a schedule before but lost my way. Disheartened by the rise of A.I. a world ever more dependant on digital tech and other current events. Im a traditionalist at heart. After a short period away from hard positive study I have had time to think and have a much clearer view going forward.

If anything has sparked your curiosity feel free to leave me a comment and I will get back to you. You follow me at LinkedIn or Pinterest. Check out my website at www.ajrjackson.com
